Tetrachlorobenzoquinone
Description: Tetrachlorobenzoquinone, also known as tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone, tetrachloro-anthracene, proguanil and so on. The precipitated from acetic acid or acetone is a golden yellow flaky crystal, and the precipitated from benzene or toluene or sublimed is a monoclinic yellow columnar crystal. There is an unpleasant, persistent scent. Sublimation. Insoluble in water, hardly soluble in cold ethanol, cold petroleum ether, soluble in ether, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and carbon disulfide. Slowly dissolved in an alkaline solution, when present in the presence of air, a reddish brown to purple precipitate (tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone). It can be used as a non-systemic fungicide for the sterilization of seeds, grains, peanuts, vegetables, cotton and beans. It can also be used as dye intermediates, pesticide raw materials and leather industry. This product is easily reduced to produce tetrahydrohydroquinone. Chlorine in the molecule is also easily replaced by oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen.

Uses: Used as dye intermediates and pesticide seed dressings. Tetrachlorophenylhydrazine is reduced with sulfur dioxide at room temperature to obtain tetrahydroanthracene, which is an intermediate of pesticides and polymer compounds. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of anti-malignant tumor drug imine oxime and anti-aldosterone drug.
It can be used as a non-systemic fungicide for seed sterilization of grains, peanuts, vegetables, cotton and beans, and also used in the leather industry.
